2019: Enugu constituency urges INEC to commence recall of Reps member

The people of Nsukka/Igboeze South Federal Constituency of Enugu State have called on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to as a matter of urgency commence the process for the recall of Patrick Asadu form the National Assembly.
In a press statement jointly signed by Igboke Onyebuchi Omeje, Kingsley Kenechi Ogwo and Ernest Chibueze, the people under the aegis of Nsukka/Igboeze South Rescue Movement passed a vote of no confidence on Asadu who is seeking re-election for the fourth time.
The constituents had earlier called on the Reps member, amidst protests against his return to the National Assembly, to show evidence of the number of verifiable Bills and motions he sponsored since 11years of his representation at the National Assembly, if any.
“Number of constituency projects attracted since 11years, if any. Number of constituency town hall meetings and engagements, if any. Finally give the reasons why he is seeking for 4th term bid.”
The embattled Asadu in his response boasted that nobody can stop him from being re elected, an action that may have prompted the move for his recall.
The statement reads: “Having refused to respond to earlier demand for accountability for his stewardship at the National Assembly for the past 11 years the constituents are calling on the Enugu Resident Electoral Commissioner Mr. Emeka Ononamadu to commence his recall process with immediate effect.
“In conclusion we are calling on all security agencies to be on alert as Asadu is threatening the lives of concerned constituents and journalists reporting the recent developments in the constituency.”
