The Chairman South East Governors forum and Ebonyi state governor, Chief David Umahi yesterday urged members of the Christian community not just to sing praises for his administration or commend his laudable projects both in the social media and other medium but to take a step further in getting their voters card to enable them ensure his reelection come 2019.
Governor Umahi noted that before embarking on the project of seeking to govern the state, he had an already inspiration, mandate and commitment with God is to ensure a better livelihood for all Ebonyi people especially children and widows and ensure that the place of worship of God is befitting.
The State Governor emphasis the need for Christians including men of God not to allow wicked politicians who do not have the interest of the masses at heart but their selfish interest take over the governorship of the state as that would led to taking the state back to its former status and predicament as witness under the last administration.
Gov Umahi made the appeal while flagging off 500 meters Christ Embassy church road, located along old Abakaliki- Enugu road that is beibg constructed by his administration among numerous other projects.
The Governor who was represented by his Senior Special Assistant on Road Maintenance, Chief Ali Odefa, stated that the same scenario that played out during President Jonathan administration where people used blackmail and propaganda to remove him from office is being hatched by some politicians in the state and urged the people to use their Permanent Voters Card PVC to ensure that enemies of the state do not get close to the government house.
He said: “In 2019, INEC will not count on your best wishes and comment about our government. What INEC will count is your votes. If you are here and you have not gotten your voters card, you are not doing us any good. What you have to do is get your voters card so that in 2019 you will come out and appreciate us by your votes.
“The country is passing through economic recession and the economy of the country is so bad. Despite this, the governor still get money and be doing lots of projects in the state, even other governors still wonder how he is geting money to do all these projects that are ongoing in the state.
“I have been mandated to go round the churches in the state and to find out roads that leads to churches which are bad. The governor wants to tie all roads that leads to churches, so that people can ply on good roads while going to worship their God.
“Every administration normally come with its own inadequacy, no one is perfect, but I believe that where we got it right is more than where we got it wrong. We want to appeal to you to accept the way we are. By 2019, vote for us and tell one another to also vote for us. And when you do so, we will be able to touch other churches that we have not been able to reach.
“Because, if you allow wicked politicians to kick us out, then you don’t know the Phero that may come and that person may not be a child of God and then you will start regretting. It happened in 2015 when people cooked a lot of lies against Jonathan, a good man.
“Some said, change him. He is too wick. He is clueless and this and that. All of us including Christians folded our hands and allowed them to vote out a good man. Today everybody is crying. If you sleep and wake up the next day, you will thank God. If you are driving, cow’s will not allow you to pass. And this never happened before.
“Things are very bad. These things happened because some of you didn’t vote. But if you come out now to vote in 2019, then we will be able to vote in people we want. When you vote in right people, you will be happy. But when you do not vote and allow them to vote in those people that we don’t want then, everything will go wrong. Nobody in Nigeria that does not know that there is a great change in the land of Ebonyi state” he stated.
It would be recalled that the agency had already flagged off the construction of the road leading to the residence of late Dr. Akanu Ibiam in Uwana community in Afikpo North Local Government Area and the road leading to All Saints Anglican Communion Cathedral in Abakaliki that was abandoned by successive administrations in the state. Ends.
