APC congress: Nwobodo lauds exercise in Enugu..as VON DG emerges national delegate


Director General of Voice of Nigeria (VON), Mr. Osita Okechukwu on Saturday emerged as a delegate to the forthcoming National Convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC).  
Okechukwu was returned unopposed alongside Mr. Charlie Chime and Maureen Anosike,during the Udi local government congress, held at the Udi APC local government secretariat, 9th Mile Corner, Ngwo, near Enugu.
The congress was attended by party bigwigs from the local government including the APC National Vice Chairman for South-East, Emma Eneukwu and the Acting Women Leader, Mrs. Oby Nwofor.
Members of the Udi local government executive of the party were also elected during the congress.
They include Jude Anyadibe (Chairman), Ojielo Pascal (Deputy Chairman), Ebubeagu Felix Okafor (secretary), Mabel Owoh (Women Leader) and Sylvester Onyia (Treasurer).
Reacting to his election as national delegate, Okechukwu assured that he would use the mandate given to him to support the efforts of President Muhammadu Buhari to revamp coal in Enugu and improve infrastructure in the South-East geo-political zone.
Meanwhile Chief Jim Nwobodo, former Governor of Old Anambra State, has hailed the peaceful and hitch-free manner that All Progressives Congress (APC) Local Government (LG) Congresses were conducted in Enugu State.
Nwobodo told newsmen after the congress of Enugu South Local Government Area held at Amechi Primary School, Awkunanw that the party faithful displayed faith and commitment not minding the heavy downpour in most parts of the state.
The congress produced Chief Hycienth Ngwu; Chief Ozo Ogbodo and Mrs Uche Ani as national delegates of the party in Enugu South Local Government Area after voting.
The All Progressive Congress in Nsukka local government area, Enugu state adopted voice vote for the local government congress election in the zone and applied zoning formular for the 20 wards in the locality.
The APC congress held at Nsukka civic centre started behind schedule as materials for the congress election arrived late at 3.30pm for an election slated 12 noon. In a voice vote all the delegates resolved to return the officials of the party for their good performance, conduct
in line with the principles of the party.
The officers returned include Chief joseph Ugwoke chairman, Ugwunyi Paulinus vice chairman, Sunday Onah secretary, Amoke Sunday asstiant publicity secretary among others.
The leader of APC congress team in Nsukka, chief Badala Eze thanked
the delegate members for the peaceful conduct of vthe congress by
adopting voice vote, adding that APC remains one indivisible family
with one common goal.
‘’we have 19,320 ballot papers and other requirements but with voice
vote our job was made easy and simply which shows that Nsukka is one
of the safest local government area for APC come 2019 general
elections in the country’’ he said.
The INEC official who observed the APC congress in Nsukka Mr. Anya
Uche commended the delegates for the peaceful conduct of the election,
adding that the zoning formular arrangement of the party in Nsukka was
an in house which was unanimously agreed by the delegate members.
Also speaking the youth leader Enugu state council of APC Hon. Joshua
Mamah thanked the delegate members for the peaceful conduct of the
election in the locality, explaining that the congress was signal to
what would happen in Enugu state come 2019 general elections in the

witnessed the election said that the congress was peaceful, urging
other local government areas in the state to be fair, transparent and
just to the dictates of the party at the natiional level for the 2019
general elections in the country.
