The emergence of Prof. Charles Igwe, from Anambra State, as the new Vice Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka may trigger a series of protest as tempers continue to rise over the inability of the Indigenous people of Nsukka to have a shot at the position.
A source from the University community told Everyday News that tension has been mounting since the news filtered in Thursday evening.
“The people are not happy not just because Nsukka has been cheated again but that it is yet another person from the same state as the out going VC.

The appointment of a new VC came after a final selection exercise conducted by the University’s Governing Council, Thursday.

Professor Igwe, until his appointment was the Deputy Vice-chancellor Administration. He will take over from the outgoing vice chancellor, Professor Benjamin Ozurumba.
