Senator Ogba emerges Ebonyi FA Chairman

Senator Representing Ebonyi Central Senatorial zone, Senator Obinna Ogba has emerged the winner of the Ebonyi State Football Association.
Senator Ogba who is the senate committee Chairman on Sports who emerged unopposed in the election scored a total number of 16 votes cast by the delegates from the 13 local government Areas of the State, the representative of the Referee Association, Club owners Association and Coaches Association.
The election which took place at the prestigious Monablise Hotel Abakaliki commenced at about 9:30am with the delegation from the Nigeria Football Federation led by Mazi Amanze Uchendu, a member of Confederation of African Football CAF Appeal committee.
Other representatives from the NFF who monitored the election includes, Chief Chidi Ofor Okenwa, Chairman Enugu Football Association and Mr. Kenny Isiadinso, member NFF security.
Senator Ogba who in his opening speech said that over the period as the Chairman of the football Association has sponsored the training and camping of National U17 team in Abakaliki adding that in 2018, he brought 5 football scouts from Europe in collaboration with some Ex-Nigeria internationals to come to Ebonyi state and scout for players.
The FA board chairman noted that the State Government over the period has never given the FA any financial support adding that he has singlehandedly sponsored most of the activities of the Football Association.
Senator Ogba expressed the regret that all the success recorded in football administration in Ebonyi state were swept under the carpet by successive administration after Dr. Sam Egwu adding that football clubs in the state were disbanded and sold, strangulated the footballer Association and almost closed down the stadium.
“In order to ensure that Ebonyi state was not deleted from the football map, I quickly organized a football team called Ebonyi United FC, the team is currently playing at the armature division 2 level. I also followed it up by establishing the first ever football academy in the state, called Macojen Academy”.
“In a bid to take football down to the grassroot, I set up various age group football teams from U13, U15 and U17, the U13 team just came back from Lagos where they participated in the just concluded annual Channels Television football tournament”.
In his remark, the Chairman of Nigeria Football Federation, (NFF), Amaju Pinick, Represented, Mr Chidi Ofo Okenwa commended the football family in Ebonyi state for conducting the election in a peaceful atmosphere.
Also speaking, seasoned administrator and Leader of South East Football stakeholders forum, Mr Amanze Uchegbulam, advised football stakeholders to seek for ways to settle their disputes in house without involving government or law courts. Ends.
