N1.9bn road project: Communities, youths celebrate Ugwuanyi’s intervention

Enugu state governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has been commended for awarding N1.9 billion for the completion of the abandoned Eziani/Ugbene-Ajima/Nimbo roads in Uzo,-Uwani local government area, Enugu state by past administrations.
The governor had before now awarded contracts of over N3.2 billion for other developmental projects in keeping with his policy on infrastructure and human capital development among others in the state.
Youths of Uzo-Uwani local government area took turns eulogizing governor Ugwuanyi for the kind hearted administration of the state on prompt payment of workers and pensioners salary, equitable distribution of amenities in the three geo-political zones of the state, roads network, free education and scholarships, infrastructure and human capital development among others in the state.
The youths in separate interviews expressed joy and gratitude to the incumbent chairman of the council Chief Fidelis Ani for the ongoing and delivered projects in tandem with the state government policy point programmes mostly on security network of the locality.
Rising from Enugu state executive council meeting (EXCO) the  state commissioner for Information Chidi Aroh while briefing journalists said that Uzo-Uwani local government area on request from the state Rural Access and Mobility Project (RAMP-2) got approval of asphalting 26.665 kilometer of Ukpabi-Nimbo/Ugbene-Ajima/Eziani roads to the tune of N1,090,631,422.22 for the feeder roads in the area.
Everyday News conducted public opinion poll on the projects both completed and ongoing at Uzo-Uwani local government area and reports that communities in the locality scored both governor Ugwuanyi and council boss Chief Ani 100 percent on infrastructure, agriculture, amenities and human development in the area.
At Adaba community of the local government area, Comrade Okonkwo Oliver said that the ongoing road network of Ukpabi-Nimbo/Ugbene-Ajima/Eziani abandoned decades ago was true test of exemplary leadership of the incumbent governor of the state, adding that Uzo-Uwani local government area would never forget the chicken that laid the golden egg in the area and applauded the council chairman chief Ani for the giant strides on rural development, interfacing with communities at intervals among others.
Mr. Anthony Onwuka from Uvuru community while applauding the giant strides of the Governor said:”History will bear eloquent testimony for the good works of the governor across the three senatorial zones of the state not just Uzo-Uwani local government area, noting that the council chairman remained the ground breaking hand of the locality on remarkable achievements, prompt payment of salary and allowances, neighbourhood watch, political appointments and partnership with the police and other sister agencies in the area.
Mrs Rose Lawrence from Ugbene-Ajima community noted that she was not surprised by the lion share allocated to Uzo Uwani in the distribution of the State common Patrimony as she had “always known the governor to be a motivator, initiator oiled by openness and goodwill characterized by freedom and choice.
“We voted en mass in 2015 general elections and repeated same in 2019 , expecting dividends of democracy and good governance which Ugwuanyi exhibited since he assumed mantle of leadership of the state.  Everybody is happy for the development in Uzo-Uwani and other local government areas of the state.” She said.
Elochukwu Ogbonna, a nurse from Nkpologwu community, prayed for the governor and Chairman of the Council to continue giving back to communities on the mandate reposed on them, thanking the state chief executive for the fair and equal distributing of the state resources for the benefit of all and sundry in the state.
Also applauding both the governor and council chairman, People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain in the  area, Dr. Bartholomew Nwankwo from Umulokpa, expressed happiness that the people of the locality are now seeing the good works of governor Ugwuanyi on rural development, none of it’s kind in the annals of history of the state and called for  concerted effort of indigenes of Uzo Uwani to ensure the good work of the governor and the purposeful administration of the local government council chairman is roundly supported.
“I have always known the Governor to be a compassionate lover of people. His achievements since his assumption of office speaks volumes. Thank God everybody can now clearly attest to it. I also wish to use this medium to thank the chairman of the council for touching on lives of the people;”   he noted.
“Of all the achievements recorded by chief Fidelis Ani chairman of the council in the local government area,  payment of Salaries, leave allowances of the councillors and staff, Development centres, and over 102 appointees up to date as opposed to 1/2 salary culture across LGAs. is incomparable,  because across the nation, local government appointees and elected officials are grossly underpaid and poorly remunerated.” he said.
Speaking with newsmen after the opinion poll the media aide to the council boss Mr. Solomon Gwiyi said that the greatest achievements of Chief Ani was prompt payment of salaries, allowances of councillors, development centres and 102 political appointees as opposed by half alary culture of the council in the past.
The media aide called on the good people of the locality to join hands with the council chairman to restore the dignity of Uzo-Uwani local government area to its past glory.
Others who took to social media to eulogize the governor milestone achievements in Uzo-Uwani local government area include Udodiri Emeka Nnaukwu and Onyeoma Okay Akor, both from Uzo Uwani local government area of Enugu state.
