Secretary General of the Igbo apex body, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Mr. Uche Okwukwu has lambasted his President, Chief Nnia Nwodo alleging that he is frustrated because Atiku lost the presidential election.
Reacting to his recent expulsion from Ohanaeze Okwukwu described the action as illegal.
Speaking in an exclusive chat with Everyday News the Secretary General described Ohanaeze as an umbrella body of all Igbo’s “so nobody can expel an Igbo man.
“You don’t need to attend the meetings to be a member of Ohanaeze. When you want to contest election you can buy form, otherwise you are by birth a member of Ohanaeze.
“I can’t be talking about purported expulsion, these are rantings of frustrated group who thought they would take Igbo’s and put in their pockets. I have resisted them and I will continue to resist them with other dedicated Igbo’s.
“Nwodo is frustrated; completely frustrated. Frustrated because he is a prophet of doom; he has brought Igbo’s to a point, they don’t know where they are. He predicted Atiku Abubakar will win the election; he adopted Atiku and he failed. I adopted Buhari and Buhari won. He is futher frustrated because all his hopes were on Emeka Ihedioha but the Court sacked him.
“This is not the first time the Supreme Court has sacked a governor. Peter Obi became governor because Ngige was sacked. Peter Obi became governor again because Andy Ubah was sacked. So Obi benefitted twice from court judgment to become governor. Shamelessly he is on the streets in Abuja protesting against a court judgement.
“In Edo State Adams Oshiomhole became governor because Osunbor was sacked. In Osun, Ondo, Ekiti the Supreme Court has sacked governors and sacked them with others.
“I am a very senior lawyer, I am 25 years post call, I studied at Ife. I am a law abiding citizen, I abide by decisions of courts no matter how bad they are. The only option open to you is to appeal, unfortunately this is the judgment of the apex Court you cannot appeal against it and it is binding to all citizens and institutions in Nigeria. Nobody can do anything about it. And it is a unanimous judgment of all the 7 judges of the apex court.
“Hope Uzodinma remains the governor of Imo State until January 2024. And if he contests again he will win the election in Imo State. He is a very popular person; he won the election. INEC only refused to collate the results that favour him.
“Nwodo is frustrated because Buhari won him in the ANPP primary in 2003. He went and knelt down for Buhari to take him as a running mate Buhari said he was very unpopular in Igbo land and chose Chuba Okadigbo.
Nwodo had been suspended by the General Assembly of Ndigbo and it stands.
The purported Imeobi that he called remains the meeting of his co travellers in PDP because he is a card carrying member of the PDP.
Ask him who was in the Imeobi, no serving governor was there, no Minister was there, no ambassador was there.
“Nwodo has repeatedly complained against the 1999 constitution. He said, without restructuring the country should collapse. Please call Nwodo and ask him; as Minister of Information under Abdulsalam he presented the 1999 constitution and defended it. Did he not know the contents and provisions of the constitution as a lawyer? You cannot probate and re probate at the same. He is an inconsistent character and must be ignored by Igbo’s.
“The Igbo’s are desirous of Buhari and are prepared to work with and are working with him. We will support his programmes and policies because we must have a bite of the cherry in 2023.
“I want to predict that APC will win the Presidential election in 2023. More states in the South East will join the APC before 2023. PDP will die as a political party before 2023.
So Nwodo should stop deceiving the Igbo’s. There is no place for PDP in Igbo land, no place for PDP in Nigeria
“Again, Nwodo cannot install the next Ohanaeze President. January 2021, the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo will go to Imo State, and Nwodo cannot install him, Deputy will come from Rivers, Secretary General from Abia State he cannot influence any of these so he is frustrated, he is finished.
He said it was Atiku and Atiku lost; he said Ihedioha, again he lost…again Uzodinma’s victory was predicated on prophecy.
Rev. Fr Mbaka said Hope will win; he is a Catholic, and he fought Mbaka; is he pure and righteous like Fr Mbaka. We are comfortable with Fr. Mbaka’s prophecy, we are comfortable with the Judgment of the Supreme Court. If he is not comfortable he should appeal to God Almighty. There is nothing he can do about it.
