2019: PDP screens Ugwuanyi, Umahi, Ikpeazu, others

The three PDP governors in the South East Governors Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, David Umuhai and Okezie Ikpeazu of Enugu, Ebonyi and Abia States, respectively, were weekend screened at the zonal headquarters of the party in Enugu ahead of the forthcoming guber primary elections.
Seven other PDP guber aspirants from the zone also appeared before the screening committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)  held in Enugu on Saturday for 2019 gubernatorial elections.
The screening exercise which was orderly and peaceful was conducted amidst tight security as the three governors in turns took a bow before the Harry Nwoko’s led 3-man committee.
Other seven aspirants from Imo State had a rigorous time during the screening exercise as some of them were asked to tender originals of their credentials and other relevant documents including discharge or National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) exemption certificate.
Speaking to newsmen shortly after the exercise, the Chairman of the Committee, Chief Nwoko, assured the aspirants of a level playing ground, stressing that they would try their best to be fair to all
aspirants.
“We will be fair as we are not here to witch-hunt anybody. We are lucky that we have good working governors. We will try our best to conduct the screening. We are privileged to be here to screen  all governorship aspirants in our party. We are here to serve you  and serve the party.
The PDP Zonal Chairman,Chief Augustin Umahi had earlier in his welcome address, said they were ready for the screening exercise, urging his colleagues to be orderly.
